COMMUNITY OUTREACH

REACHING OUT TO THOSE IN NEED

Our Redeemer is committed to serving both the local community and global neighbors in need. Through a variety of programs and partnerships, we seek to extend Christ’s love and care to all people. Whether by providing food, supporting health initiatives, or offering financial help, the church strives to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Community outreach is an important part of the church's mission, embodying the call to serve those in need and be a visible presence of Christ's compassion in the world.

  • A group of members and friends gathers each Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall to design, sew, and tie - on average - nearly 100 quilts each year, and share a time of fellowship. On Quilt Sunday in the fall these beautiful works of love are set out in the worship space. Many quilts go to support the work of Lutheran World Relief, while others are made available for purchase. Money raised on Quilt Sunday and at the Holiday Marketplace Bazaar goes to support congregation projects and ministries, as well as a variety of community organizations. All are welcome.

  • WAFER Food Pantry is a local resource that provides food assistance to individuals and families in need. Our Redeemer Lutheran Church supports this vital ministry, helping to ensure that people in our community have access to nutritious food. The pantry is a lifeline for many in La Crosse County, offering essential resources to those facing food insecurity. The church encourages members to donate food and support the pantry in various ways, helping to make a positive impact in the lives of our neighbors. Call (608) 782-6003 to get in touch with this organization.

  • Mobile Meals of La Crosse is a program that delivers hot, nutritious meals to homebound individuals, providing essential support for those who are unable to prepare meals for themselves. Our Redeemer Lutheran Church participates in this program by volunteering one week each month, from March to December. Church members are encouraged to sign up in the narthex to volunteer their time and help deliver meals to those in need, offering both nourishment and companionship to people in the community. • Our Redeemer Lutheran Church partners with Versiti for regular blood drives, helping to meet the critical need for blood donations in the community. Blood drives are organized periodically throughout the year, giving church members and others the opportunity to donate blood and potentially save lives. These events provide a simple but impactful way for the congregation to serve others and give back to the community in a meaningful way. (877) 232-4376

  • The Monthly Noisy Offering is a special initiative organized by the Outreach and Social Ministry Committee to support local and global outreach programs. Every month, a designated offering is collected during worship services, with funds directed to specific ministries and missions. The Noisy Offering provides an opportunity for the congregation to contribute to different causes, with an annual calendar outlining the specific projects that will benefit from the funds raised. Recent recipients include ELCA World Hunger, Trinity Equestrian Center for work with veterans, Causeway Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers, and Salvation Army - Feed the Kids Program. This initiative encourages giving in a fun and active way, as coins are collected in colorful metal buckets (a noisy offering!) during the service.

  • In addition to the specific initiatives mentioned above, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church is involved in various other local and global outreach programs. These programs are designed to meet the diverse needs of the community and beyond, whether through support for international missions, disaster relief efforts, or partnerships with other local organizations. The church continues to explore new ways to serve and support those in need, both near and far, as part of its commitment to outreach and social justice.
